Lutunji Abram is the CEO and founder of Lutunji’s Palate Bakery & Cafe in Minneapolis’s Elliot Park community. Lutunji’s Palate is a social enterprise “built with purpose; fortified with love.”

Her business addresses three basic problems: a shortage of Black-woman-owned bakeries and community gathering spots, the need for community healing in Minneapolis due to recent and recurring racial tensions, and the need for a place to teach life-skills with diverse community members.

Lindsey Johnston, Francis Burger Joint

Lindsey Johnston is the chef and co-owner of Francis, a community-focused plant-based burger joint and bar located in Minneapolis. With a familiar and nostalgic menu of expertly seared burgers, crispy fries, and juicy chicken that just happen to be vegan, Francis’ mission is to be inclusive to all and show meat eaters that plant-based food can be every bit as crave-able and satisfying as its animal-sourced counterparts.

Francis also boasts the state’s only fully vegan bar where everyone can feel right at home—regardless of ideology or dietary preference.
