Cooking Demos

We have a great line up of cooking demos for this year’s festival! All are free to attend thanks to generous donations from our supporters.

Cooking demos will take place in the Clarence W. Wigington Pavilion.

After each demo, you’ll get to try a sample of the food and get a recipe to take home.

Green Garden Bakery

11:00am – 11:45am

About Green Garden Bakery

Green Garden Bakery is a group of young-entrepreneurs from the Heritage Park neighborhood in Minneapolis, who have started their own environmentally friendly youth-run business. Youth participants grow vegetables in their community garden, bake them into healthy vegetable based desserts, and sell them at local farmer’s markets and festivals. One-third of the proceeds of the sales go directly to compensate youth leaders, one-third is reinvested into the business, and one-third is donated to local community needs the youth identify. Jasmine Salter and Raniya Shiekh will be instructing for Green Garden Bakery!

Jasmine Salter – Urban Agriculture Chair

Jasmine lived in Heritage Park for nine years before her family moved away 4 years ago. She still calls Heritage Park home and is there every day after school. Jasmine is really looking forward to college and wants to be an advocate for African Americans or study Food Policy.
